Tretford is goat hair. It does not clean like nylon.

Ribbed goat hair with wool, specified in architectural interiors. Steam and standard detergents can felt the pile or shift colour. We clean it as a natural fibre — low moisture, chemistry that fits, spotters tested first.

The rib is the specification. Treat it as nylon and it pays.

Tretford is a ribbed carpet of goat hair with a wool blend. It is not nylon tile and it is not standard broadloom. Heavy steam, aggressive detergent or a rotary that is too hot for a natural fibre can felt the pile, shift colour, damage the ribs, or leave moisture in the backing.

We choose what the fibre will take.

Most of the soil on Tretford is dry soil, so a lot of it comes out dry. Spot treatments are trialled with chemistry appropriate for goat hair and wool before anything goes across the floor. Full cleans stay low-moisture. Drying is checked before the space is released.

A fibre protector is optional, and only if the specification allows it. We do not run a house process over every Tretford floor.

Common questions

What is Tretford?

A ribbed commercial carpet made from goat hair with a wool blend, used in architectural interiors. It does not clean like nylon tile or standard broadloom.

Why does it need specialist cleaning?

Natural fibre is sensitive to moisture, heat and chemistry. Steam and standard commercial detergents can felt the pile or shift colour.

How do you decide what to use?

We treat it as goat hair and wool, not as nylon. Dry soil comes out dry. Spotters are tested before any full clean. Full cleans stay low-moisture. A fibre protector only if the specification allows.

Do you apply protector as standard?

Only if the specification allows.
