We restore all types of stone. Not always by honing.
We recommend the solution that fits that floor, and we do it. Diagnose first — a thorough clean, a hone, a grind, a polish, a seal, or a combination.
The wrong process wrecks stone or wastes money.
Floors get sold a hone, a coating, or a replacement. One process, every situation. The hone that was not needed. The coating that buried the stone. The replacement that was never required.
Premrest looks at the floor.
Whatever that stone needs.
We diagnose. Then we recommend a solution and we do the work. A thorough clean. A hone. A grind. A polish. A seal. Or a combination. Restoration is heavier work than ongoing care — it is still not a single method.
For the day-to-day and the first look at a problem, see stone care. That is ongoing care, not a split that says we only hone here.
One example: 80 Collins Street.
The granite lobby had been under repeat non-slip coatings. Clean, hone and seal was the right path for that floor. It was retested to P4. One example. Not the method for every stone floor.
All types of stone.
We work with all types. These are examples, not a closed set.
- Granite
- Marble
- Limestone and travertine
- Sandstone and bluestone
- Terrazzo
Common questions
Are you always honing?
No. Honing is one option. We look at the floor and recommend the solution that fits — a thorough clean, a hone, a grind, a polish, a seal, or a combination. Then we do that work.
Do you work on all types of stone?
Yes. We work with all types of stone. Granite, marble, limestone, travertine, sandstone, bluestone and terrazzo are examples, not a closed list.
How do you decide what to do?
We diagnose. Stone type, what is wrong with it, what has already been done. Then we recommend a path and carry it out. Same team.
Do we have to replace it?
Usually no. Restoration is typically a fraction of the cost of new stone, and often indistinguishable from it.
What about 80 Collins Street?
One example of a path, not the method. The granite lobby had been under repeat non-slip coatings. It was cleaned, honed and sealed, then retested to P4.
